For thousands of years humans have lived with their environment, using the resources at hand to make life comfortable. It's only over the last few hundred that we've turned to 'modern' technology. In some cases, this has steered us away from our natural setting. But we believe that having bushcraft and survival skills gives you a close connection with nature and enables you to extend your quality time outdoors. This often involves the satisfaction of making a beautiful, functional item with nothing more than basic tools and your own hands. Tree-ditions Woodland Crafts School is the Lothian’s Premier Bushcraft, Survival and Green Woodworking training venue and the perfect place to reconnect with and test your outdoor skills, instincts and creativity.
We facilitate top quality leisure and learning experiences for all in over 50 acres of beautiful East Lothian woodland. We offer an immersion in nature with hands on learning using tree-ditional and contemporary tools and you can expect plenty of tracking and trailing, wildlife watching, camp craft and fire by friction. Our courses range across day courses, weekend introductions, female only, week long courses, corporate team building, tailor made and organised groups as well as guided walks. With green woodworking and coppice crafts you will work the same tools and natural local materials which not so long ago would have been used throughout the land. These provided us with day to day household items and utensils such as spoons and spatulas, chairs, stools, tables and bowls.
We will help you to return to nature using first class tuition, tree-ditional skills, natural materials and a beautiful woodland setting with stunning views over East Lothian's countryside and coast. All of the above and more are delivered from our beautiful woods, where the kettle is always on.
