Lennoxlove House, the seat of the Duke of Hamilton, dates back to the 1300's and reflects the myriad of family, political and social influences which have shaped Scottish history. A stunning structure inside and out, the House was once a Roman stronghold before going on to become a baronial caput by 1250, transforming into a formidable tower fortification during the 14th century Scotland-England conflicts and then becoming a Royal House of Stuart. Our celebrated art collection adorns the interior and tells the story of Scotland and its many historical protagonists. Look out for paintings from Van Dyke, Raeburn, Lely and Kneller as well as important artefacts from Mary Queen of Scots, Charles II and Napoleon. If you manage to escape from our spooky dungeon, take a wander in the vast surrounding estate where you can see White Park Cattle and ancient trees planted by Kings and Queens all with a tranquil and spectacular view over the Lammermuir Hills.
