Depicting a brown bear standing on its hind legs, this five-metre-high steel sculpture is a tribute to John Muir, the pioneering Dunbar-born naturalist and conservationist who played a key role in the establishment of National Parks in the USA. The DunBear symbolises John Muir’s travels through the wilderness of the American West and his powerful desire to protect the natural environment.
You can visit the DunBear which is situated on Bear Hill close to the A1 behind Asda Supermarket.
