East Lothian and golf - a unique combination of outstanding golfing tradition in an unparalleled location that invites golfers of all abilities to test their game and enjoy welcoming hospitality.
From Victorian Open Champions who set standards for the modern game and who designed Championship courses across the globe still enjoyed today, to a county that boasts the highest concentration of championship courses in the world, East Lothian is rightly famous as Scotland's Golf Coast!
Neighbouring Edinburgh, Scotland's capital city, East Lothian, Edinburgh's Coast and Countryside has bustling towns, quaint villages, golden beaches, rolling hills and stunning landscapes.
With twenty one links and parkland courses, East Lothian really is a golfers paradise.
Standing at the 4th tee at Winterfield Golf Club, Dunbar looking over the rugged coastline and stunning scenery, you may forgive the occasional winds from the north sea and appreciate the challenge of a Scottish links course.
Further west is Musselburgh Links, The Old Course, an original Open Championship venue hosting the event on six occasions. There is evidence of golf being played here in 1672 making it the oldest golf course in the world. Mary Queen of Scots is reputed to have played here even earlier in 1567. This nine hole course is uniquely situated within the boundaries of Musselburgh Racecourse, a five star attraction. Step back in time and play a round using traditional hickory clubs.
Muirfield is on the rotation of courses hosting The Open to win the world famous Claret jug. It last hosted The Open in 2013 when Phil Mickelson triumphed.
Next door is Gullane Golf Club with three classic links courses and Luffness New Golf Club with a course designed by old Tom Morris.
Just along the coast in Aberlady are Kipsindie Golf Club and Craigielaw Golf Club with Longniddry Golf Club nearby.
Further inland, are the parkland courses including Haddington Golf Club in the county's market town and nestled at the foot of the Lammermuir Hills, Gifford Golf Club.
